MECHANICAL INFRARED INSPECTIONS
Mechanical Equipment Infrared Inspections and Reporting for Commercial, Industrial, and Property Management in Hawaii, Maui, Oahu, and Kauai.
Mechanical IR Theory:
As mechanical devices operate, heat is generated. Excessive force causes heating. Friction, misalignment, improper lubrication, and improper belt tensions are all examples of sources of excessive force.
Reduce Downtime, Minimize Failures, Reduce Inventory of Spare Parts, and Prevent Injuries.
Infrared inspections of mechanical rotating equipment can find excess heat caused by friction and wear. Some friction induced heating is normal in mechanical systems, but when it increases above typical operating temperatures, it can be a leading indicator of wear and a predictor of component failure.
Thermal imaging detects this heat and identifies problems while they are in their early stages, preventing a catastrophic failure. Early detection provides your maintenance staff the opportunity to take corrective actions to prevent failure and downtime.

Items inspected during inspection:

- Electrical Motor Connections
- Rotor & Stator
- Bearings
- Couplings
- Rolling Element Bearings
- Belts
- Gearboxes
- Bell Housing

How Do These Mechanical IR Inspections Save You Money?

Infrared inspections of Mechanical equipment is beneficial in many ways. Besides finding obvious thermal anomalies, you reduce the need of storage space for spare parts because you’ll be able to see and anticipate repairs,
In addition to lowering your parts inventory, you control your costs by reducing down times and unexpected halts to operations due to sudden motor failures. Increases in temperature at certain components is a sign of impending failure. Seeing this data allows you to take preventative measures so you aren’t caught off guard by a sudden failure.
We can help detect excessive friction, defective equipment, improper belt tensions, and misalignments of coupled equipment.

Infrared Inspections of Mechanical Equipment Reduce Failure Rates

When equipment experiences variations in load, environmental exposure, over/under lubrication or incorrect adjustment of it components, the end result may be increased friction between the moving parts in the system.
The increased friction can cause hot spots to develop, which can be pinpointed with our high-resolution infrared imager. As with an electrical infrared inspection, mechanical infrared inspections are a perfect match between the diagnostic technology of Thermography and the application.

Mechanical INSPECTION STANDARDS

We perform qualitative and quantitative mechanical infrared inspections which are used for predictive/preventive maintenance, condition monitoring, failure inspection, and research and development by facilities throughout Hawaii. All our Infrared (IR) inspections are performed by Infraspection Institute Certified Infrared Thermographers using state-of-the-art equipment with industry developed reporting standards.
Infrared Inspection Hawaii performs mechanical infrared inspections in accordance with the Infraspection Standard for Infrared Inspections of Electrical Systems & Rotating Equipment.
